He grew up on his family's ranch in Glenwood, WA. He later moved with his family to Stevenson, WA where he attended Stevenson High School. He married Barbara Beckeet in 1955. He pursued a 20 year U.S. Navy career and was also active in his community. He was a Cub Master and was active with the GOP.
He retired in 1977 and went on to graduate from Citrus Community College in California in 1979. He then had a second career by starting a small business. The Allens returned to Stevenson three years ago.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Laura; sons Fred and Gordon; two grandsons, a great granddaughter; sister Shirley; brother Gene; cousin Terry and five nieces and nephews.
A graveside service, with full military honors, was held March 19, 2010 at Willamette National Cemetery. All of the arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home.
