Death of W. G. Brinson.

Mr. William George Brinson, one of New Berne’s highly respected citizens died Friday morning May 8th, at five o’clock after being long afflicted with a complication of diseases, aged 56 years.

Mr. Brinson was a native of New Berne and lived here all his life, except while off in the war. He entered at the beginning as Lieutenant of the 5th regiment, and rendered his country faithful service.

Returning home after the war he was elected to the position of county clerk and most acceptably filled the office. He afterwards became justice of the peace and held that office many years -- was still in that office. Insurance was the business he followed.

Soon after the war he married Miss Kittie E. Chestnutt of New Berne, who with two sons, survives him. One son, Mr. Samuel M. Brinson, located in New Berne, the other, Mr. James M. Brinson, is in Cripple Creek, Col. Both are promising young attorneys at-law.

Mr. Brinson was a member of Middle street Baptist church and took a strong interest in both church and Sabbath school work.

The funeral is to be from the church this afternoon at five o’clock. He was a member of several fraternal societies and they are expected to be at the funeral.
