Shirley was born in Rockford, Michigan, the daughter of Janet and Adolph Krause. She was a resident of Palm Beach County for nearly 60 years.
Shirley was pre-deceased by husband Alan Forbes Brackett. Shirley met her first husband, Alan, while on vacation in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, shortly after WWII. She and Alan raised three loving and grateful children, living together for 43 years in the towns of Palm Beach and West Palm Beach.
Shirley gave much to the community she loved. She was a charter member and President of the Junior League of the Palm Beaches, a founder of the South Florida Science Museum, Chairwoman of several Boards, PTA President and long time supporter of her church, Holy Trinity Episcopal in West Palm Beach.
Her life was blessed by many dear friends, especially by the women of her sewing group, "The Tangerines", who over the past several decades have loved and laughed and grown old together.
She was thankful for the friends she made over the past several years at the Devonshire Retirement Community in Palm Beach Gardens. And to her friends in Cashiers, North Carolina, where she summered for 30 years, a big part of her heart will always be there with you in the mountains.
Rest in peace, Mom. We love you.
