Former Bishop of the Diocese of Chiavari, Monsignor Daniele Ferrari was born in Comun Nuovo Bergamo, Italy, on January 17, 1920. Obtaining a degree in jurisprudence, he was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Bergamo at 23 years of age on March 20, 1943.

Spiritual director at the Regional Seminaries of Benevento and Siena, and later at the Seminario Romano Maggiore, aged 50, Ferrari was appointed Auxiliary for the Archdiocese of Gaeta by Pope Paul VI, receiving his episcopal consecration with the Titular See of Velia on October 25, 1970, from Cardinal Angelo Dell'Acqua, assisted by Archbishops Ugo Poletti and Roberto Ronca.

On February 22, 1973, Ferrari was named Bishop of the Diocese of Chiavari, following the resignation of Monsignor Luigi Maverna, taking possession of his see on the following April 8.

Retiring from the pastoral government of his see at 75 years of age, he was succeeded by Msgr. Alberto Maria Careggio.

Chaplain Gran Croce Conventuale Ad Honorem dell'Ordine di Malta, Bishop Daniele passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at 22 hrs., in a clinic in Genoa, where he had been recovered for a fortnight.

Funeral Mass, presided by Monsignor Angelo Bagnasco, Archbishop of Genoa, was said at the Cathedral of Chiavari, where interment also took place.
