He was a well-to-do farmer; his farm was about ten miles from Indianapolis in Morgan Co., Ind. He was building a large barn for some neighbors when he broke a blood vessel that led to lung fever and his death.
He and his youngest child, Willy, who died the day before he did, were buried in the same coffin.
