U.S. Congressman. He was secretary for the town of Moorestown, New Jersey, on the Board of Adjustment, (1948-52) and a member of the Moorestown Township Committee, (1953-62). In addition, he was Mayor of Moorestown, (1957-62) a member, executive board of New Jersey State League of Municipalities, (1958-620, chairman of Moorestown Planning Board, (1962-63) and a member of the New Jersey State Senate, (1964-70). In 1970, he was elected simultaneously as a Republican to the Ninety-first and to the Ninety-second Congress by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of United States Representative William Cahill and reelected to the next seven succeeding Congresses, serving until his death at age 68.
