Mr. Payne, son of the late William Mark and Annie Horne Payne, was born in Dublin and had lived in Macon most of his life. He was active in many organizations and had served on numerous local and state-wide boards and charities. Mr. Payne presently served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Macon Rescue Mission and had served on the Board of Directors of the Medical Center of Central Georgia and as President and District Governor in the Lions Club. He was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Faye Persons Payne of Macon; his daughter, LeAnne (Michael) Wilkes of Macon; two grandchildren, Ashley Wilkes and Jonathan Wilkes of Macon; his sisters, Frances Comer of Gray and Dorothy Mullis of Dexter; his brother, Bobby Payne of Macon and several nieces and nephews.
