Vincent T. Mazzaferro, 82, of East Longmeadow and a forty-year resident of Sandisfield, Massachusetts, passed away on Friday evening, March 18, 2011 surrounded by his family in Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Vincent, a son of the late Vincenzo and Carmella Veteramo Mazzaferro, was born in Springfield on February 2, 1929. Raised in East Longmeadow, he graduated from Springfield Technical High School.

Vincent was the proprietor of the Blue Moon Restaurant in East Longmeadow which was started by his parents in the 1930's and was his lifelong occupation. Vincent served his country with the United States Navy.

He was a founding member and communicant of St. Paul's Church. During the building of St. Paul's Church, Sunday Mass was held at the Blue Moon Restaurant for about two years.

In addition to his parents, Vincent was predeceased by a sister Yolanda Mazzaferro and his former wife Barbara Ann McBride. He is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Myrtle (Nehmer) Mazzaferro; his children, Thomas M. Mazzaferro and his wife Cynthia of Cheshire, Connecticut, Robert J. Mazzaferro of Chicopee, Carl V. Mazzaferro and his wife Alina of Brimfield, Lee Ann Mazzaferro of Springfield, Mary Jo Baker of Chicopee, Robert Nehmer and his wife Donna of Springfield, Anne Rideout and her husband Jerry of Springfield, Patricia LaLonde and her husband Robert of Santa Monica, California, Randall Nehmer of Springfield, David Nehmer and his wife Trinda of Ludlow, Theresa Baybutt and her husband Henry of Wellesley, Massachusetts, Timothy Nehmer and his wife Amanda of Southwick, Richard Nehmer of South Hadley, Lorena Kononitz and her husband William of Southwick; twenty-seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. His funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, March 22, 2011 at 8:15 a.m. at the Funeral Home, followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Church, 235 Dwight Street, Springfield.
Rites of Committal and Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield.
