A native of Elwood, Mr. Evans had been a Muncie resident for the last 33 years. He settled in Muncie following his return from the Army after World War II. He had served with the 150th field artillery battalion. He retired April 1 after 27 years at Warner Gear. He was a member of Warner Gear Sympathy Club and UAW Local 287.
His wife, Freda, died in August 1976.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carol E. Walters and Mrs. Marsha D. Coats, both of Muncie; a brother, Clifford, Mogadore, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Frances Peters, Mount Dora, Fla., Miss Leona Evans, Tavares, Fla., and Mrs. Vera Foster, East Chicago; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Parson Mortuary, with Pastor Gaylord Odegard of Lutheran Church of the Cross, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Elm Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and prior to the services Saturday.
