MITTIE WORLEIN
Mittie Jarred had grown up on a farm in Linn County, Kansas. Her father, Eli Jarred had come with his parents from Indiana when he was two years of age. Her mother, Cena Maddox, was born in Kentucky, and had also come to Linn County with her parents as a youngster. Eli and Cena grew up there and later they were married. They were the parents of Mittie and William.
When Mittie grew to maturity, she and Albert Worlein, also of that county, were married. Albert had come to Edwards County earlier and had rented a farm, which he later bought. The young couple did not move immediately to Edwards County, but lived a while in Linn County, then in Missouri for a short while. In the early part of 1900, they located on their farm south of the river.
After Mr. Worlein's death in 1941, Mrs. Worlein continued on the farm, with the help of her sons, Ward and Clarence.
Mr. and Mrs. Worlein were parents of nine children: Mrs. Harry (Blanche) Cook, Modesto, California; Mrs. Joe (Flossie) Carroll, Bakersfleld, Callfornia; Ward Worlein, Wichita; Mrs. Frank (Birdie) Johnson, Kiowa, Colorado;
Mrs. Herbert (Edna) Brown, Kinsley; Mrs. Alvle (Mae) Williamson, Wichita; Mrs. Ray (Ethel) McCollum, Greensburg; Clarence Worlein, Missourt; Albert Worlein (deceased).
Edna Worlein was married to Harry, one of two sons, born to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brown of Kinsley, Harry's mother came to Kinsley when she was five weeks of age. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jonas W. Miller, were from Wilmington, Deleware. The Millers established a home five miles north of Kinsley, and there the famlly of 12 chll-dren, eight sons and four daughters, grew to maturity. The north branch of the old Santa Fe Trail went through the farm.
On November 15, 1898, Oriena Jane Miller and Joe Brown were married and lived five miles directly north of her folks. Two sons, Harry, of Wichita, and Herbert of Kinsley, were born to this union. Because of falling health the Browns left the farm and moved to Kinsley where Mr. Brown passed away October 23, 1943. Mrs. Joe Brown Is also deceased.
