Penn Yan Democrat,

February 14, 1908:

Mrs. Elouisetta F. Carr, aged 86 years, died at the County Home Saturday evening at seven o'clock. She had made her home winters with her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Townsend, where she had been tenderly cared for. Mrs. Carr had been very feeble for a long time, but had striven to keep up for Christmas, expecting her family to spend it with her. The second day after Christmas she gave np (sic.), and was confined to her bed until the end. Mrs. Carr leaves two daughters, Mrs. J. S. Remer, of Dresden, and Mrs. W. H. Townsend, wife of Supt. W. H. Townsend, of Penn Yan, six grand children, and four great-grand children; four generations being represented at her burial. Mrs. Carr was beloved by all who came in contact with her. Her patient, loving Christian life has left an example well worth following. Rev. Ray Andrews held prayer at the County Home at 10:30 o'clock a. m. Tuesday, February 4th, the inmates one and all paying their last respects to one whom they had learned to love, and who had ever greeted them with a kind, sympathetic word. Her funeral was held at 2 p.m. at the Dresden Presbyterian church, Rev. Joshiah Still officiating. She having been a member of that church over 45 years of her life. And thus was laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery one of the most loving of mothers, friend and neighbor.
