Orrin A. Gowen died at his residence on Sunday afternoon. He had been ill for some time with heart trouble and his friends realized that he was liable to die suddenly.
Cause of death was water around the heart.
He was a veteran of the Civil War, enlisting in the Navy with his brother, Emelous.
He came to Amesbury in 1865 working in the Hat Factory for years as a finisher until his health failed him.
He was well known throughout the town and leaves a large circle of friends.
