Revolutionary War veteran. Born to Samuel Condit, a farmer and devout member of the Presbyterian Church of Orange, and his first wife, the former Mary Smith, Capt. Moses Condit fought for American independence as a young man in his teens and early 20's. Married to the former Hannah Smith, he lived to see the young United States triumph over Great Britain in both the Revolution and War of 1812. He died 6 months after his 77th birthday.
