A lifelong resident of Muncie, he attended Muncie schools and had worked for 40 years for Warner Gear Division (now Borg Warner Automotive, Transmission Systems) retiring in 1973.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, United Auto Workers Local 289, Warner Gear Sympathy Club, and the National Rifle Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Rosemary L. Burton; a son, Michael W. Burton, Muncie; three daughters, Becky (Mrs. Paul) Johnson, Muncie, Stephanie Bell, San Diego, Calif., and Carolyn Grow, Warsaw; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. There is no calling.
