Helen Lea Richardson passed away on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010 at Yale Medilodge.

She was born on April 24, 1916 at DeRidder, Louisiana to James and Vera Lea. Living most of her life in the Capac area, she attended Capac Schools during which she made her home with Mr. and Mrs. John Nettnay.

She married LeRoy Richardson in 1940 in Ohio. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Barbara Lea. Helen loved her bowling leagues and was an Honorary Member of the "Half Century Club" of Capac, and also worked with the Michigan Blue Water Council of Girl Scouts for several years. Helen also worked as an area news correspondent with the Capac Journal and the Tri-City Times newspapers for 14 years.

Helen acquired an extended family and friends over the years: Sheryl Hollenbeck, of Capac, Annette and Gary Fultz, of Gaylord, Ginny and Steve Sinda, of Capac, Tina and Charlie Burden of Capac, Linda and Richard Fisher of Imlay City, and many many more!

She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; her daughter, Barbara Lea; her sister, Violet of Dryden, and foster parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Nettnay, of Capac.

Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be interned at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dryden.

A Memorial Service will be held to honor the memory of Helen at First United Methodist Church, 206 W. Mill St., Capac, MI 48014, on Monday, Sept. 20th at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made towards First United Methodist Church or the Fraternal Order Of Eagles of Imlay City.
