Author. Higgins graduated from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts and helped provide the scholarship for American poet Sylvia Plath to attend the college. She was the author of "Now, Voyager" (1942) and "Stella Dallas" (1925). Both books were made into films starring Bette Davis and Barbara Stanwyck, respectively.
