U.S. Congressman. He was a chief deputy sheriff of Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department, (1966-72) and chief investigator, of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, (1971-77). He graduated from William Carey College in 1979, was Chief of Police of Gulfport, Mississippi, (1977-83) and Sheriff of Harrison County, (1984-89). In 1989, he was elected as a Republican to the One Hundred First Congress and served until his death. He died at age 45 in an airplane crash near the DeSoto National Forest, Mississippi.
