US Congressman. Born in Detroit, Illinois, he graduated from Southwestern Baptist University, Tennessee, in 1902, with a law degree from University of Kansas, in 1904 and then was a lawyer in practice and a teacher in Lawrence, Kansas. In 1912, he was elected as a Democrat in a special election to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Edmond H. Madison to the Sixty-second Congress and reelected to the next succeeding Congress, serving until 1915. An unsuccessful candidate for election, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 39 in Hutchinson, Kansas.
