U.S. Congressman. Immigrating to America, he settled in Ohio and engaged in agricultural pursuits. He studied law in Lisbon, Ohio, was admitted to the bar and proceeded to practice law in Mississippi. Returning to Ohio, he engaged in agricultural pursuits and was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-sixth and Twenty-seventh Congresses, serving (1839-43). After his term, he resumed his agricultural pursuits until his death.
