He was born in Lancaster PA on 8/26/1920 at the Lancaster General Hospital. He worked at Aument Brothers Wholesale Grocery in the warehouse and drove a truck making deliveries.

He worked at Aument Brothers until World War II broke out and then he joined the Army in January, 1942. He was in the China, Burma, and India Theatre the entire war and was driving a truck in the second convoy to go over the Burma Road.

After the war ended, he returned home and started working for Armstrong World Industries. He married Ethel Jean McCracken on January 4, 1947 and they were married for 58 years, 10 months.

He joined the National Guard a few months after getting married and about 3 months later his unit got activated, and he later was sent to Korea in 1952 and 1953, and was there until the main hostilities were over. After Korea, he returned to work at Armstrong World Industries until his retirement at age 65.

ne year after retirement he started driving escort for trucking steel girders at High Steel Structures, Inc. and continued this for 9 ½ years. In 1998, Steve and Jean moved to Woodcrest Villa and Mennonite Home and lived there until their deaths.

A son Stephen J. Aument III, husband of Carla survives him along with 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service in the Chapel of Mennonite Home, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. Friends may call at the Chapel on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. Interment will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
