US Congressman. A 1931 graduate of Harvard University, he became successful and wealthy as a real estate agent in his hometown of Portsmouth, Ohio. When long-time Republican Congressman James G. Polk died in office in 1959, Ward M. Miller was elected in a special election to fill his vacant seat. He served as a Republican representing Ohio’s 6th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives from November 1960 until January 1861, when Republican William Howard Harsha Jr. assumed the seat. Ward Miller returned to his business in Portsmouth, and passed away there in 1984.
