US Congressman. He attended Columbian College, was a field assistant in the United States Geological Survey, and attended the Naval War College in 1900. He served in the United States Marine Corps, as a Captain, attended the University of Pennsylvania, and was school director of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He also was commissioned a Captain of the Fourth Regiment, National Guard of Pennsylvania, in 1913 and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was the president of the American Wholesale Coal Association, and trustee to settle the affairs of the Tidewater Coal Exchange. In 1925, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-ninth Congress, serving until 1927 and elected to the Seventy-first and Seventy-second Congresses, serving from 1929 to 1933. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he served as chairman of civilian defense in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was vice president of Weston Dodson & Company, and was chairman of Bethlehem Redevelopment Authority. He died in retirement at age 83.
