Born in Flint, Michigan, in 1927, Mel, as she was affectionately known by her countless friends and family, was preceded in death by her dear Ken, husband of almost 57 years, and her father and mother, Frederick & Harriette Hagedorn.
After graduating from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio in 1949, she met and married the love of her life, Kenneth C. Krenek, thus becoming an avid Texas Aggie fan and supporter for the rest of her days. A 12th Man Foundation Permanently Endowed Donor, she was also a dedicated Spohn Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer for over 40 years, a member of a Holy Family Guild for over 50 years, a long time member of the Theresians Int'l., and the Bishop's Guild. But for all her seemingly endless interests to which she selflessly dedicated her time and talents, we will always cherish her for her most important role as both a devoted wife and mother, and will forever keep her spirit in our hearts and memories.
She is survived by her five beloved children, Robin; Tim, his wife Debbie, and daughter Holly; Beckie; Jeff; Lisa, her husband Kenneth Hedrick, daughters Leslie and Kristen, her husband Brandon, and their children Eli & Beau; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Church, 5620 Gollihar Rd, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78412.
