US Congressman. Born in Hancock, Maryland, he moved to Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, in 1874 and was later president of the Moshannon Coal Mining Company and the Pittsburgh & Susquehanna Railroad Company. In 1915, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth and Sixty-fifth Congresses, serving until 1918. Declining to be a candidate for renomination, he resumed his previous business endeavors and opened the Rowland Theater in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania. He died at age 60 in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania.
