Chester Curtis married Lucinda Willis of Charlton, daughter of Jaby & Achsah Willis, formerly of Windham, Connecticut. Chester was deacon of the Dudley Congregational Church for many years. They had eight children: Melissa, Lucian Willis, Louisa Cummings, John Edwin, Henry Clay, Mary, James Francis and Francis Chester. Mary and Infant James Francis are buried with Chester & Lucinda Curtis. Two of their sons, Henry Clay and Francis Chester, settled in Marlborough following the Civil War and ran a very successful grocery. Francis Chester fought in the war and endured a harrowing ordeal as an Andersonville prisoner. Lucian Willis became a prominent doctor in Southbridge. John Edwin began a four generation family shoe manufacturing business in Marlborough. Soon after the death of Lucinda Willis Curtis, Chester remarried to Eliza Davis of Dudley and later moved to Pleasant Street, Globe Village in Southbridge. He died as the result of a stroke (shock) in July of 1878 in his 85th year. Deacon Chester Curtis may have been buried in Southbridge at an unknown location, although both wives lie in the Curtis Cemetery, Dudley, Worcester County, Massachusetts, mistakenly called the Albee-Durfee Cemetery at present time.
