Jackie L. Gillenwater, 59, Kingsport, TN went home to Heaven on the wings of angels after a lengthy battle with cancer, Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Jackie was born in Scott County, VA on July 21, 1951, the daughter of the late J.M. and Nettie Estep. She was a loving mother and grandmother who devoted her time to her family. Her brothers and sisters have always meant the world to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Henry, and a sister, Nora Wallace.
Surviving is her fiancé, Mike Ellis; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Stephanie Buttry, Weber City, VA; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Matthew Miller, Duffield, VA and Melissa and Tony Gilliam, Kingsport, TN; granddaughter, Kassi Grace Gilliam, Kingsport, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue Gibson, Kingsport, TN, Virginia (Jenny) and Billy Joe Davenport, Kingsport, TN, Lorine Harless, Kingsport, TN, Terry and Leonard Davenport, Kingsport, TN; Phyllis and Carlos Gibson, Weber City, VA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Dora Estepp, Gate City, VA and Randy and Martha Estepp, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Roy Leedy officiating The Banks Family will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family wishes to convey special thanks to the staff of the Cancer Center of Wellmont Holston Valley on W3; along with a very special thank you to Carey and Cody on the 6th floor.
