Ruby Bowen was born Anna Ruby Clark on April 11, 1891 to Elmer and Mattie James Clark in Charleston, West Virginia.

At an early age she was converted and baptized into the Antioch Baptist Church under Rev. George W. Walker.

She united in marriage to John Leslie Bowen in 1910 and to this union one son, John Leroy, was born.

A faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she served for over thirty-five years as the Pianist. She played for the Male Chorus and Heavenly Echo Choir.

She was a loyal and charter member of the Northwester Garden Club.

A patient sufferer she departed this life Wednesday, July 14, 1965 in the Mt. Carmel Hospital.

Ruby is survived by her husband, Leslie; son, John Leroy; daughter-in-law, Hersciana; brother, Percy Clark; granddaughters, Janice, Joyce (Rudolph) Smith; great grandchildren, Carlton, Carleen; aunt, Mrs. Daniel DeBerry; sisters-in-law, Della, Minnie Hughes; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
