RITES AT CORPUS FOR J. E. GILES, 49
Funeral for James Elbert Giles, 49, was held at Cage-Mills Funeral Chapel in Corpus Christi at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial was in Corpus Christi Cemetery.
Mr. Giles, a longtime Abilene resident, had been ill several months. Born in Merkel Sept. 27, 1914, he moved to Abilene with his family in 1927 where he attended public schools and Draughon's Business College.
After marrying Miss S. E. Currier of Abilene in 1935 at San Angelo, the couple moved to Corpus in 1940 where Mr. Giles served in the Navy.
A Baptist, he was a partner in Loman Iron Works.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Betty and Mary Lou; a son, Gary; four brothers, Leon of 2125 Orange, Fred of 518 Lexington, Max of 1257 Minter and Doc of Fort Worth; a sister, Mrs. C. T. Elza of Corpus Christi; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Giles of 2125 Orange; and one grandson.
