Hazel E. Little, age 97 of Barryton, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at Ingham County Medical Care Facility. She was born September 2, 1916 in Monroeville, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph and Orah (Plumley) Brown. Hazel graduated from Monroeville High School and continued her education at God's Bible College in Cincinnati, OH. While attending college, Hazel met Eugene Little whom she married in 1936 in Ohio.

She was a substitute pastor at various times in her life. Together Hazel and Gene made their home and raised their family in the Almont and Williamston areas. She worked with Gene at the family-owned Almont Times Herald Newspaper, at the Champion Mobile Home, Inc., and was employed by the State of Michigan working for the DNR until she retired. They moved to the Barryton area and became members of the Weidman Baptist Church. Hazel was very involved in the church community, always helping the church and its members. She moved to Rodney with her son Ron and began attending the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids. Most recently Hazel lived at the Ingham County Medical Care Facility near her daughter Roberta.

Hazel enjoyed crocheting; she had made every grandchild and great-grandchild an afghan. She liked the outdoors, gardening, baking cookies and attending the family fishing trips in Canada until she was 75 years old. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Hazel will be remembered by her wonderful smile and a wink in her eye.

She is survived by five children, Roger (Millie) Little of Calumet, Ron (Pat) Little of Rodney, Rochelle Dana (Joe Shiffer) of Quincy, Roberta Cross of Lansing and Richard Little of Sault Ste. Marie; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; four siblings, Bonnie (Grayston) Witmer of IN, Eileen Geradot of IN, Roy (Mary) Brown of IN and Mary Jane Kendall of GA; several nieces and nephews.
