The Rev. Gerard Schellinger, 78, chaplain at Mt. Carmel Home, 4130 South Alameda, died at 9 a.m. yesterday after suffering a heart attack. He came to the Corpus Christi Diocese Sept. 17, 1960, from Cheyenne, Wyo., where he had been since he was ordained as a priest July 14, 1912. He was born April 11, 1888 in Alkamaar, the Netherlands. He took his philosophy and theology degrees at Louvain University in Belgium. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Chapel. A High Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Corpus Christi Cathedral, with the Most Rev. Thomas J. Druary, DD., Bishop of the Diocese of Corpus Christi, as celebrant. He will also deliver the eulogy and give the final absolution. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Michael Adams will serve as deacon and the Rev. Robert Freeman will serve as sub-deacon. The Very Rev. Robert Clark will act as master of ceremonies. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel plot of Seaside Memorial Park.
