He was born Oct. 23, 1919, in Wheeler to Tom Stark Owen and Arrie Z. Wynn Owen. He was a retired captain in the U.S. Air Force, was a retired engineer for I.B.M. and was an honorary board member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Owen of Corpus Christi; his children, Kathye (Donald) Turpin of Fort Worth, Karyon Owen of Washington, D.C., Luther (Lori) Owen of West Hills, Calif., and Tom (Maria) Owen of Austin; one sister, Letha Krhut of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, in Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church with Pastor Brian McDonald officiating. Graveside services with full military honors followed in Seaside Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Leandro Peña, Mike Garcia, David Hudgens, Al Willeford, Ernesto Garcia and Tom Doud.
