Aaron Porter was the son of Abner and Lydia Brainard Porter. Abner was a captain and was lost at sea when Aaron and his brother Abner were three and one years old respectively. Abner and Lydia both came from families long established in America - in the early 1600s. Lydia is a direct descendent of Daniel Brainard, Mathew Marvin, Thomas Leffingwell, and Henry Gregory - all founders of towns in the original colonies. Aaron married Trail Anthony on 14 Nov 1816. The settled in Ohio and had six children. Both lived to the age of 85 years, quite old for the time.
