Gottlob Fritz, age 60, passed away in his Springfield home on a Tuesday night following a lengthy illness. He had lived in Springfield for his last 16 years.

A veteran of World War I and a native of Nebraska, Mr. Fritz spent most of his life in Santa Clara, California. The son of German immigrants, Gottlob and Anna, he was one of a large family of children. His father came to the United States in 1880, and his mother came in 1890.

Mr. Fritz was survived by a sister, Mrs. Carrie Henselbecker of San Jose, and seven brothers who were as follows: Fred and Hartley Fritz of San Jose; David, Martin and Rudolph Fritz of Santa Clara; Christian Fritz of Seattle, Washington, and Joseph Fritz of Springfield.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 on a Saturday afternoon at the Bigelow Mortuary in Sonora, and interment was in the Columbia City Cemetery.

In 1920, the family still lived in the same home in Santa Clara. Gottlob, Sr. had passed on. Harley was not living with the family, but the nine others were still living with their mother. Fred, Gottlob, Jr. and Daniel were machinists, Martin did farm work and Rudolph worked in a lumber mill.
