Belvidere, Ill./Cashton, Wis. - Henry O. Degenhardt, 57, a 37-year resident of Belvidere, Ill., and formerly of Cashton, Wis., died Monday, March 28, 2005, in Mercy Medical Center, Walworth, Wis.
Hank was born Feb. 27, 1948, in La Crosse, the son of Omer F. and Anita (Mashak) Degenhardt. He married Alfrieda M. "Toots" Hanson on Jan. 6, 1968, in St. Mary's Church, Cashton. Hank retired from Chrysler in 2001.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere, the Belvidere Moose Lodge and the U.A.W. Hank enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and his Harley, but most important to him was spending time with his grandsons.
Survivors include his wife, Toots; his mother, Anita of La Crosse; daughter, Brenda (Steve) Miller of Poplar Grove, Ill.; a son, Bradley Degenhardt of Rockford, Ill.; grandsons, A.J. and Derrek Miller; mother, Anita Degenhardt of La Crosse; brothers, Robert (Sharon) of La Crosse, Paul (Vicki) of West Salem, Wis., Dan (Ann) of Coon Valley, Wis., and Mark (Colleen) of La Crosse; sisters, Sharon (John) Schreier of Kirkland, Ill., Barbara (Dan) Bull of Eau Claire, Wis., Dinah (Alan) Cavadini of Coon Valley, and Sandra (Ron) Clark of Marshall Islands; mother-in-law, Frieda Hanson of Norwalk, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Darlene (Julian) Peterson of Onalaska, Wis., Carol Crawford and Beverly (David) Peterson, both of Cashton; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Omer; nephew, Brian; and father-in-law, Albion Hanson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, with prayer services at 8 p.m., with Deacon James Olson celebrating. Visitation will also be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 1, in Torkelson Funeral Home, Cashton, with funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, in
St. Mary's Ridge Catholic Church, Cashton. Burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Cashton. Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements.
