Obituary, The Oklahoman, February 28, 2008
Gwendolyn Louise Snyder passed away on her 73rd birthday February 25, 2008 at Deaconess Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born February 25, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Robert and Hazel (Gabriel) Snyder. Gwen was their only child and her parents preceded her in death.

She is survived by her aunt, June Snyder and cousins, Lynne, Gail and David. Gwen graduated from college with a degree in Home Economics and was a member of Alpha Xi Delta and Beta Sigma Phi Sororities. She retired from Lucent Technologies (formerly Western Electric Co. and AT&T) in Oklahoma City. After her retirement, Gwen enjoyed her volunteer work as a "Bag Lady" for the Oklahoma Blood Institute, contributing 2,048 hours over 16 years.

Gwen never married, but enjoyed teasing many young waiters at various restaurants, telling them that she would like to take them home and raise them for herself. Gwen had a wonderful singing voice and enjoyed singing in her church choir and with the Sweet Adelines. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Central Presbyterian Church, St. Mark's United Methodist Church and Resurrection Free Methodist Church. Her many loving friends will surely miss her keen sense of humor. She had a knack for making everyone laugh.

Funeral services will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 am Saturday, March 1, 2008, with entombment to follow at Rose Hill Abbey Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Oklahoma, or to the Oklahoma Blood Institute.
