US Navy Peacetime Medal of Honor Recipient. Served in the United States Navy as a Chief Watertender on board the "USS Iowa". He was awarded the CMOh for his bravery on January 25, 1905. His citation reads "Serving on board the U.S.S. Iowa, for extraordinary heroism at the time of the blowing out of the manhole plate of boiler D on board that vessel". His Medal was awarded to him on March 20, 1905.
