MRS. HARLEY HOPPES BURIED
TUESDAY
_______________

Mabel Emery Hoppes, only daugh-
ter of Elmer and Mary Jopp Emery
was born near Greenspring, O., on
September 6, 1892. She grew to
young womanhood in the same neigh-
borhood, honored, loved and re-
spected, always of a sunny disposi-
tion. Few young women had more
nearer and dearer friends.
In 1910 during the pastorate of
Rev. Steffanni she gave her heart
to God and has ever since been a
member of the Evangelical church
of Greenspring.
On August 23, 1911, she was uni-
ted in marriage to Harley Hoppes by
Rev. D. A. Parks of Tiffin, O., and
since her marriage has resided four
and one-half miles south of Green-
springs having made many and dear
friends in her new neighborhood.
She died April 12, 1919 aged 26
years, 7 months and 6 days and
leaves to mourn her early death,
her husband, who on account of
ill health was unable to attend the
funeral, her parents, six brothers,
Charles, Bert, and Orrin of Green
spring,- Aeschol of Chicago, Ill., and
George of Bellevue, O., and Fred
of Clyde, O., also a great many
other relatives and friends.
The home has lost a kind and
loving wife, the parents a dutiful
daughter, and the brothers a sister
who was always willing and ready
to do what she could to help them
along life's way. Not only will she
be missed by the immediate family
but by all who knew her, for to
know Mabel Emery Hoppes was to
love and speak well of her.
Short funeral services were held
at the home April 15, 1919 at 12
o'clock and the regular services
at Greenspring at 1 o'clock, con-
ducted by Rev. Steffanni of West
Salem, O., Rev. Spreng of this place
and Rev. Parks of Tiffin assisting.
Many and beautiful were the floral
offerings, tokens of respect for
the departed one.
Oh it seems they could not spare
her,
But it was not theirs to say,
Angels beckoned her from earth
She could no longer stay.
We point to Him who was her trust
For he alone can heal
The gaping wound He lives and
must
Each of our sorrows feel.
