HARLEY HOPPES
_________

Harley H. Hoppes, was born in
Adams township, Seneca county, O.,
October 20th, 1887 and departed
this life January 14th, 1921 at Galli-
polis, O., aged 33 years 2 months,
and 25 days. He was baptized when
a babe and confirmed by Rev. Ihle
December 20th, 1903. Since con-
formation he had been a member of
the St. Jacob’s Reformed church.
On August 23, 1911 he was unit-
ed in marriage to Mable Emery with
whom he lived a devoted life until
it pleased our Heavenly Father on
April 12, 1919 to take from him
his young companion who had born
so many of his trials with him.
This was a sorrow which he nev-
er forgot and many times since in
his affliction he had expressed his
desire to be with Mable. Besides the
father, mother, two sisters and other
near relatives he leaves a host of
friends who have spoken many kind
words of sympathy in his behalf.
He was a very industrious boy but
his ambitions were handicapped by
the affliction from which he was a
patient sufferer for many years of
his life. As his physical being weak-
ened his faith in his Savior grew
stronger and much of his correspond-
ance to parents and friends was an
exhortion that we all “Keep the
Faith” and sometime we would be
given the Crown.
Having this assurance why should
we mourn for him? His suffering
has come to a happy ending. His
prayers have been answered.
The consoling words of Rev.
Parks, the prayers offered and the
scripture lesson were very appropi-
ate as were the selections sung by
Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Light. The
floral remembrances from sympa-
thetic friends were many and beau-
tiful.
The Master came and called him
to dwell with friends of long ago,
and with him to be in glory; pain
and suffering no longer know.
Funeral services were conducted
in the Evangelical church in Green-
spring, Tuesday afternoon, and were
attended by a large number. In-
terment in the Greenspring cemetery.
