Charles D. Kissel, Sr., 79, Diamond, died May 21, 2011 in Joplin, Missouri, at a Joplin nursing home, following a brief illness.

Mr. Kissel was born Nov. 29, 1931 and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Diamond High School and had worked at Rocketdyne / Teledyne as a jet engine mechanic and was a member of Diamond Christian Church.

Charles married Lavone Frisbie in 1952 at Wichita Falls, Texas, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 1010.

He is survived by a son, Charles D. Kissel, Jr., Diamond; four grandsons, Christopher Kissel, Joplin, Joshua Kissel, Joplin, Derrick Shane Kissel, Saginaw, Matthew Kissel and wife, Laney, Diamond; a granddaughter, K'Dee Marie Kissel, Diamond; great-granddaughter, Bella Brooke Kissel; and a sister, Imogene Kelly, Joplin.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Kissel.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho. Mike Whorlow, minister, will officiate. Interment will be in the Diamond Cemetery and grandsons, Chris, Joshua, Shane, Matt and Charles, Jr., Kissel will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from noon until 7 p.m. Tuesday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
