Edward "Buck" Gilmore, 67, of 3002 Strawbridge Place, Owensboro, died Thursday, March 21, 1996, at his home. He was born in Knottsville and retired in 1990 from Peabody Coal, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, was a member of the American Legion and was a lifetime member of the Amvets. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Vlasta "Val" Gilmore; a son, Edward D. Gilmore Jr. of Owensboro; two daughters, Sharon Sasso and Barbara Phillips, both of Chicago; two grandchildren; three brothers, Dennis, Gene and Eldon Gilmore, all of Owensboro; and three sisters, Cornelia Ann "Corky" Crabtree, Mary and Jeanene Terry, all of Owensboro. Services are at 9 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. William Cemetery, Knottsville. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home, Owensboro, where prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today.
