US Congressman. He served as an officer in the Union Army during the Civil War, rising from 1st Lieutenant and Regimental Adjutant to Captain of Company H, 26th Missouri Volunteer Infantry. He was elected as a member of the Greenback Party to represent Missouri's 7th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1881 to 1893.
