He retired as a technical engineer for Steris Corp. in Millcreek Township. He graduated from Green Township High School in Indiana County. He was a member of Emmanuel Methodist Church and North East Lodge 399 F&AM. He received his pilot's license and enjoyed flying private planes. He also enjoyed photography and target and skeet shooting.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Berta Yochum Berringer, in 2002; and a sister, Meredith Meekins.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Kinnear and her husband, Melvin, of Erie and Deborah A. Smith and her husband, Ray, of Idaho Springs, Colo.; two stepdaughters, AlBerta Dean Phanco of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Patricia A. Dean Davis and her husband, William, of Tijeras, N.M.; a sister, Evelyn McMannis of Cherry Tree; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Grahamville Cemetery.
