Daniel Tucker EMBREE
Birth: 25 Nov 1842 New York
Death: 24 Nov 1901 Corning, Adams County, Iowa
Embree, Daniel T. 11/25/1842 11/24/1901 Walnut Grove
Daniel Tucker Embree, a highly respected comrade and citizen was seriously hurt last Wednesday evening returning from Corning. Near the widow Strait's the bridge is on an angle and Mr. Embree being cold had the lines around his shoulders and in the turn the wagon hub struck the bridge and the horses jumped, breaking the double trees and dragged Mr. Embree out and dragged him some distance. He had three ribs broken and was ruptured inwardly. He suffered terribly until Sunday afternoon at 3 o clock when death relieved him of all his sufferings. He was a good Christian man and was ready to go at the summons. Sunday morning he regained consciousness and bade them all goodbye. He leaves a wife, one daughter, an adopted son, one brother and a host of friends. He enlisted in Co. C, 5th N. Y. Regt. in 1861 and served to the close of the war. He was commander of the Briscoe Post. The funeral will be held at Lincoln Center church Tuesday at 2 o'clock p. m., under the G A R. regulations and the Methodist minister will preach the funeral sermon. Mr. Embree has been a member of this church for a good many years. The entire community extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
