Land Agency, of Vicars Cross, Chester. He was educated at Charterhouse in the sixties before the school was moved to London, and afterwards at Cirencester Agricultural College, he made land agency his profession, his first agency being in Cheshire to Lord de Tabley in 1879, and later to the latter's stepson, Arthur Hugh Smith-Barry, afterwards Lord Barrymore, for whom he worked for 45 years. He was also agent to the Earl of Strafford and Colonel Dugald Stuart, and at one time made a considerable number of valuations of land for various purposes, this taking him over much of England's most beautiful country.
