US Congressman, Massachusetts Governor. He was elected as a Republican to represent Massachusetts' 3rd and 4th Congressional Districts in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1859 to 1867. He would also go onto be elected as Governor of Massachusetts, serving from 1876 to 1879. He had previously served as Mayor of Boston, Massachusetts, from 1856 to 1857.
