Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Private in Company F, 1st Delaware Infantry for action at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on July 3, 1863. His citation reads "Capture of flag." He served under the name of "John Mayberry" and his Medal was issued under that name.
