Mr. Abbott was a 1939 graduate of Wilmington High School and served in the Army in the Pacific in World War II.
He was employed by General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
He was the son of the late William G. and Emma (nee Prestovitz) Abbott; and was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Dangel. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Hahn Abbott; 1 sister, Marion Abbott of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday morning, April 19 at 11:30 am at the Zion Lutheran Church, 2101 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington.
Burial will be private.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30 am.
