Mr. Arthur was born Sept. 27, 1915, in Blanchester, son of the late E. Lowell and Edith Printy Arthur. He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Dayton and a retired lay minister. The last church he pastored was the Lees Creek United Church of Christ. He was a volunteer at Clinton Memorial Hospital and a member of the Wilmington F&AM Lodge 52, Wilmington Lions Club, the Train Club and the National Association of Letter Carriers. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, Wilmington.
He is survived by two sons; a brother; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Ziegler and Betty Moore.
At Mr. Arthur's request, his body was bequeathed to medical science. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. June 15 at First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, 120 Columbus St., Wilmington, Dr. Robert Byler officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Clinton Memorial Hospital Foundation, 610 W. Main St., Wilmington, 45177, or the American Diabetes Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., West Chester, 45069. Arrangements are under the direction of REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington.
