U.S. Congressman. He completed academic courses, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1867 and commenced to practice law in Carrollton, Ohio. He was clerk of court in Carroll County, Ohio, (1870-77) and elected as a Republican to the Forty-ninth Congress, serving (1885-87)). Not a candidate for re-nomination, he was judge of the court of common pleas, (1889-1901) and engaged in the practice of law until his death.
