US Congressman. He was affiliated with the legal department of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, in 1915 and during World War I, he served as a Corporal in U.S. Army, 119th Hospital Unit, Camp Zachary Kentucky. After his discharge, he attended the Law School and Baldwin-Wallace College, Ohio, was admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of law in Canton, Ohio, in 1922. He was a member of the faculty of McKinley Law School, (1926-42). In 1943, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-eighth Congress, serving until 1945 and was reelected to the Eightieth Congress, serving 1947 to 1949. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he returned to the practice of law until his death at age 77.
